Ask your player data in plain language
Open Analytics keeps your video player analytics in your own ClickHouse database. Connect Claude, Cursor, Windsurf or any MCP-compatible client to it, and ask about rebuffering, startup time or CDN errors the way you would ask a colleague.

How to ask your player data a question
The questions run against your own analytics database through the ClickHouse MCP that Open Analytics includes. You do not write SQL, and you do not move your data to a separate warehouse first.
- 1
Start Open Analytics
The quickest route is Open Analytics at analytics.apps.osaas.io, deployed with one click and configured for you. The stack behind it is Player Analytics Eventsink, SmoothMQ, Player Analytics Worker, ClickHouse and Grafana, all in the OSC catalog.
- 2
Send events from your player
Initialise an Open Analytics SDK with your Eventsink URL and attach it to your player. Events flow through the queue and the worker into ClickHouse.
- 3
Connect your AI assistant
Add the ClickHouse MCP to your Claude Desktop or Cursor MCP configuration. The configuration block is on the Open Analytics site.
- 4
Ask the question
Ask about session data, rebuffering events and startup times in plain language. The assistant queries your analytics database directly.
- 5
Check the answer
Every answer comes from a query on your own database, so you can audit it: no black box and no vendor interpretation layer in between.
Questions you can ask
These examples come from the Open Analytics site:
- Show me videos with >5% rebuffering ratio this week
- Compare startup time by device type
- Which CDN had the most errors yesterday?
Keep the assistant read-only
The ClickHouse MCP runs read-only by default. The SQL Access user has write grants, so do not enable write access in the MCP configuration.
Your data, your database
Your player analytics stay in your own ClickHouse database, collected with the EPAS open standard. You can also query the same data with SQL, and the components are open source.

Questions
Do I need to know SQL?
No. You can query your player data with SQL or with an AI assistant, and the assistant writes the query for you.
Which AI assistants work?
Claude, Cursor, Windsurf or any MCP-compatible client that can connect to the ClickHouse MCP.
Can the assistant change my data?
The ClickHouse MCP is read-only by default. Keep it that way: the SQL Access user has write grants, so do not enable write access in the MCP configuration.
Is my data used to train AI?
Eyevinn states on the Open Analytics site that it never accesses or uses your data for AI training. The data sits in your own ClickHouse database.
How is this different from the video analytics pipeline tutorial?
The tutorial sends scheduled AI reports through n8n. This page is for asking a question when you have one.
Ask your first question about your viewers
Start Open Analytics, connect your assistant and ask what you want to know.
